A Korean skincare brand born in Finland
Founded in 2023, Hwarang' combines Korean skincare traditions with modern formulas. Many may not know that Hwarang's roots also extend to Finland, where the brand's idea was conceived. Manufacturing takes place in South Korea, where the country's renowned skincare expertise and technology is utilized.
Hwarang' has drawn inspiration from the ancient Korean royal hwarang warriors. These soldiers were called "flower warriors" as they practiced ritual bathing ceremonies. These used hanbang extracts — plant extracts, roots and herbs from traditional Korean medicine. The purpose of the ceremonies was to make the skin radiant and healthy, which would also reflect inner strength, confidence and courage.
Hwarang's name plays with the Korean language. It consists of two Korean words whose combination means Hwarang's product (화랑 is read "Hwarang" and the other part 품, read "poom", means a thing, item, or product). At the same time, the word "hwarangpoom" sounds similar to the Korean word for cosmetics (hwajangpoom).
